| Born in Rio de Janeiro,
Brazil, in 1972, Claudio Spiewak started playing acoustic and electric
guitar at the age of 11. At the beginning, it was inevitable to
be influenced by Rock and Heavy Metal but as time passed by, Claudio
began his interest for other types of music, such as Blues and
Pop. He took private lessons from teachers like Carlos de Abreu
and Alexandre Carvalho and by the time he was 15, he went to study
Jazz, Harmony and Improvisation at Musiarte School of Music.
In 1989, Claudio moved to New York, where he ironically started
going back to his roots and gaining interest in Brazilian music,
such as Samba, Bossa Nova, Baiao etc…For the next few years,
he played with several local bands and artists, participating of
music events and festivals, gaining experience and developing his
craft.
He relocated to Miami when he was 24 and continued his work with
music, gaining a bigger exposure with Latin, Brazilian and International
artists. Also around this time, Claudio began to put together a
small home studio where he worked with composition, arrangement,
production and sound engineering.
He has played or/and recorded with a variety of artists such as
Jimmy Smith, Julio Iglesias, Shakira, Nestor Torres, Tim Maia,
Elba Ramalho, Leo Gandelman, Antonio Adolfo, Bebel Gilberto, Emilio
Santiago, Peri Ribeiro and many others, besides his own group,
the Rainforest Trio, with whom he recorded a CD in 1999. Claudio
has also participated of many festivals and concerts and has received
national and international awards for his work. He has also written
and produced music for commercials, TV etc…
Today, Claudio lives in Miami where he gives continuity to his
work as a solo artist and with other artists and also writes and
produces music at his home studio.
