Description

In our minds, it is difficult to separate the Pantanal of Mato Grosso from a good music of a brazilian viola – and the region remains eternalized in our minds as the homeof this genuinely Brazilian musical genre, inspiring generations of instrumentalists versed in the art of telling stories accompanied by unmistakable melodies extracted from the ten strings viola. Created and developed with the attention to details that the undertaking demands, the new line of Giannini violas bears the name of this celebrated natural paradise located in the heart of Brazil, and arises with the mission of translating the immortal Pantanal spirit into chords. They are models ready to become not only the ideal companion for any self-respecting guitar player, but also a living (and active) part of the national artistic imagination.

The VS8H has a solid Sitka Spruce top, Louro-Preto back and sides, Brazilian Cedar neck and Pau-Ferro fingerboard. The saddle is compensated, and has specific octave compensation per string. Available in an acoustic version, with MT-3, G-01 equalization (preamp that offers Reverb, Delay and Chorus effects, even with the instrument unplugged) and now also with Fishman Presys ll and Sonicore piezo pickup. Open pore matte (OP) and glossy (NG) finish.

The woods

Sitka Spruce

It results in instruments with good projection and a very “live” sound, with prominent bass, clear tones and lots of attack. Found in North America, especially in the moist soils of temperate forests, Sitka Spruce is creamy-white, light pink or brown in color. Its tree, which can reach almost 100 meters in height, is considered the third largest living being in the world, behind only the sequoia and eucalyptus. It has the best strength-to-weight ratio among all cataloged wood species.

Louro-Preto

With a sound more towards medium/low bass, Louro-Preto has a quality attack and excellent sustain. In musical instruments, it is used not only in the bodies of guitars and violas, but also to make necks, fingerboards and bridges. It has a medium texture, great density, highlighted longitudinal bands, and a soft cut (despite its hardness). Tree that can reach up to nine meters in height, and prefers Cerrado and Caatinga climates. Present mainly in the states of Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais and Paraná.

Brazilian Cedar

Widely used in solid instruments, due to its lightness and stability. The sound provided by Brazilian Cedro is characterized by a deeper and velvety tone, excellent bright definition (as it is not very resinous), good projection and sustain. Natural wood from open forests and fields with a hot/humid climate, widely distributed in the North region, mainly in the states of Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Pará and Rondônia. It has low density, medium to thick texture, pinkish-beige color, and veins forming smooth regular designs.

Pau-Ferro

Used in acoustic instruments and in the creation of fingerboards and bridges. It produces pieces with good sound, beautiful finishing and excellent sustain, with a brighter tone than Rosewood, but which manages to retain the warmth for which Rosewood is celebrated. Its color varies from light yellowish brown to brownish brown, with dark veins forming characteristic and exotic irregular designs. Known for its rigidity, moderately light and very durable, Pau-Ferro is found in Goiás, Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo, São Paulo and Paraná states.
